Melayu UK has been providing a zakat collection service since 2004. The service has been a great help to our members and also provides a conveniet way of fullfilling one of the pillars of Islam. This is especially true for members who live away from Muslim communities.
Over the past years we have noticed that more and more members are using our service. Because of the importance of zakat, this service is open to all Muslims regardless of whether they are Melayu UK members or not.
Zakat Advisor
Sheikh Dr Afifi al-Akiti is our zakat advisor.
Sheikh Dr. Afifi is a full-time lecturer at the Theology Faculty, University of Oxford. His profile can be obtained from www.livingislam.org/maa.
Zakat Rates
Zakat Fitrah: minimum £3 per person. You can pay more if you want.
Other forms of zakat: 2.5% of zakatable asset.
Payment of Zakat
We collect all forms of zakat e.g. zakat fitrah, wealth zakat, zakat arrears etc. Please make payments directly into one of our dedicated bank accounts. You can also contact any of the committee members if you wish to notify us of your payment.
Melayu UK will accept your zakat payment and distribute it in accordance with shariah.
