The Monthly Think Tank (MTT) aims to provide regular opportunity for Malay students to develop the following:
- Critical Thinking and Innovation
- Globalised Paradigm
- Transferable Key Skills
The MTT brings differing ideas together in a relaxed and warm learning environment aiming to accelerate intellectual elevation of MUSST members. MTT should normally be in a form of a debating session discussing issues affecting Malaysia and Malay students. MTT is not to be used as an emotional slanging match but is rather an opportunity to challenge and develop ideas in an intelligent and progressive manner.
Discussion Guidelines
- 2 MUSST members with differing ideas will trigger the debate.
- Ideally a maximum of 15-20 people to attend to ensure a quality debate.
- The venue should be in a warm and friendly environment.
- Entrance to MTT is free but requires pre-registration (priority to MUSST members).
Discussion Format (1½ hrs)
- 10 minutes each for both speakers to present their arguments.
- 2½ minutes each for both speakers to counteract each other.
- 60 minutes for other participants to discuss, challenge and raise ideas.
The MTT can also be used for:
- Special guest speakers to present discussions to MUSST members.
- Q&A + Strategy Sessions for MUSST members to interact with MUSST committee members.
Possible Discussion Topics:
- Should we abolish or keep ethnic-based laws in Malaysia?
- Is Malaysia on track of achieving the goal of Vision 2020?
Set up a Think Tank in your local area!
If you want to set-up a Think Tank, please contact any of the MUSST committee members or email the president of MUSST direct - suhaib @ melayu.org.uk.
