We concentrate on 4 areas.
1. Enhancing Personal Quality
The UK workforce has an excellent pool of key skills that the Malaysian workforce in general currently lacks. To contribute to Malaysia reaching a level of global competence, these key skills need to be picked up by the students in the UK and transferred back into Malaysia upon return. Throughout our programmes and services, MUSST encourages Malaysian students to make the most of their stay in UK by absorbing and developing these invaluable skills that are seldom found in Malaysia.
MUSST encourages the development of:
- Critical Thinking and Innovation: Critically analyse the status quo. Think outside of the ‘Malaysian’ box. Devise alternative solutions.
- Globalised Paradigm: Globalise yourself. Develop a mentality that transgresses Malaysian borders. A mentality appreciated by all cultures and countries.
- Transferable Key Skills: Communication, Self-Confidence, Leadership, Conflict Resolution, Negotiation, Presentation, Operational Management, Human Resource Management etc.
2. Melayu UK Advice & Support Network
Student life in the UK as an international student can be challenging. The Melayu UK network is filled with Malays who reside in the UK permanently and Malays who are born and raised in the UK. Therefore, the Melayu UK network understands the British society just as much as other British citizens. Should Malay students require any form of advice whether it is coping with home-sickness, dealing with problems with the landlord, dealing with problems with the university, requiring knowledge about the law, understanding procedure for being treated unfairly etc. the Melayu UK network can surely point them to the correct direction.
3. MUSST Information Hub
A one-stop information HUB where Malays students across the UK can easily access and exchange information about life in the UK, places of interest, driving laws, how to import cars back to Malaysia, challenges of life in the UK, benefits in the UK, discrimination law and so forth. By pooling together valuable information relevant to Malay students together with a forum to exchange ideas and experiences, and complete with the support of Malay students and graduates who reside in the UK permanently, a much-needed information resource will be established.
4. Improving the Malaysian Education System
By critically analysing the British education system constantly, we aim to find ways of improving the Malaysian education system. In liaison with several Malaysian organisations, we will present and discuss solutions that aim to create positive impact to students in Malaysia and the Malaysian education system.
